Morocco's preliminary determination of safeguard measures for imported hot rolled steel plates

  On October 4, 2019, the Committee on WTO Safeguards issued a notification of safeguards submitted to it by the Moroccan delegation on October 2. The Moroccan investigative authorities decided to impose a 25% additional tariff on imported hot-rolled steel sheets as a temporary safeguard measure, effective from the date of publication in the Moroccan Official Gazette, with a validity period of 200 days. The Moroccan tax numbers of the products involved are 72.08, 72.11.13, 72.11.14, 72.11.19, 72.25.30, 72.25.40, 72.26.20.00.11, 72.26.20.00, 72.26.20.00.30, 72.26.20.00, 72.20.40, 72.26.20.00.51, 72.26.20.00.52, 72.26.20.00.00, 72.20.00.59, 72.26.91, 72.26.90.91 and 72.29.99. The aforementioned safeguards are not applicable to the products imported from Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, Macao Special Administrative Region and Taiwan.


On May 29, 2019, Morocco initiated an investigation into the safeguard measures for imported hot-rolled steel plates.
