The billet with a diameter of 150 mm is the smallest continuous casting round billet that can be produced by Baotou Steel at present. The successful production of 150 mm diameter billet is another successful trial production of 245 mm diameter billet and 200 mm diameter billet.

Under the guidance of the market-oriented reform of steel pipe company, the steel branch plant constantly breaks through itself and actively adapts to the market. Although the original design billet of No.2 caster is round billet with diameter of 180 mm to diameter of 350 mm, the production of billet with diameter of 150 mm exceeds the design outline, and there are professional technical problems such as blank design parameters. However, the steel branch plant has carried out many single stream tests to overcome the process and equipment technical problems such as the selection of mold powder for the 150 mm diameter billet mold, the specific water volume setting, the hot billet pressure, the centering of the tundish nozzle, and the original position of the cutting machine, etc., and successfully produced the 150 mm diameter billet in full stream, which provided favorable guarantee for the capacity release of the 100 mm diameter hot rolling production line, and promoted the product structure of the steel pipe company To further fill the domestic market demand of small diameter tubing.
