Vietnam's steel imports in the first half of the year decreased by 5.4%

In the first six months of this year, Vietnam imported 6.8 million tons of steel products, with a cumulative import volume of more than 4 billion US dollars, down 5.4% and 16.3% respectively compared with the same period last year.

 

According to the Vietnamese Steel Association recently, the main countries exporting steel to Vietnam from January to June include China, Japan and South Korea.

 

According to the association's statistics, Vietnam imported nearly 1.3 million tons of steel products in June alone, valued at $670 million, an increase of 20.4% and a decrease of 6.9% over the same period of last year.

 

According to the statistical data released by Vietnam National Bureau of statistics, in 2019, Vietnam's steel import amount was 9.5 billion US dollars, and the import volume reached 14.6 million tons, which was 4.2% lower and 7.6% higher than that in 2018; in the same period, the steel export volume was 4.2 billion US dollars, and the export volume was 6.6 million tons, with a year-on-year decrease of 8.5% and an increase of 5.4%.
